I promise not to dump hundreds of photos (although I DO have them) and countless meanderings upon you from my recent trip to California. I will however share a post each week for some time on my 'first time' experiences and a few stories.
First up... my first time - hike up to the famous Hollywood sign. Originally, the sign read Hollywood Land and was intended to promote the availability of land as a new and somewhat risky real-estate opportunity.
I found it much smaller than I imagined and after several balancing tricks, we moved on to other adventures.
Ha! I love that trick. Did you get to see the Griffith Observatory while you were there? It gives such a great view of the city.
ReplyDeleteI know, the photo trick is fun! We didn't make it to Griffith. We ran non-stop from one event to another and unfortunately - had to say no to a few things. Next trip!
DeleteThat sign is now protected by a non-profit group... every time some developer tries to sell it, they rally the troops to save it. That is such an iconic piece of Americana - I would hate for it to ever be removed. I can't wait to hear about the Hearst Castle!!
