Hiking It Off

The earth under foot
Passing
Thoughts fade into
Absence
Embraces singularity
Feels
Effortless striding
Forth
Coming homeward
Bound
Less of me resting
Heavy
Burdens dripping
Soaking
Into the soil beneath
Me

  1. It's beautiful Kim. I really love how you can say so much with so few words...a real gift of a good writer.

  3. "less of me resting heavy"

-- Adored this line especially; it speaks volumes, and goes well with the title of the piece. Cheers.

  4. I really love this poem, Kim. It expresses just how it feels when you're hiking, surrounded by nothing but quiet and nothing to do but forget about real life for awhile. It makes me want to get out for a hike!
