Why Our Education No Longer Works...and the ADD non-epidemic

Great video. Content and presentation are worth viewing...many times.

  1. Kim, I have to tell you that this video touched me on many levels. I'm sure you know I used to be a teacher, but what you likely don't know is that I abandoned public education primarily because my style was cramped and I was not allowed to allow my students to use their imagination and creativity. And that really killed me! And the other issue was that darned standardized testing, which was so bloody standardized, it left nothing to the imagination. Coincidence is so funny because I was just reading a study on divergent thinking a couple of weeks ago, and I did read what I think I already knew... and what was mentioned in this video... yes, we do lose it as we grow older. And that's because we're not allowed to use it. Again, we're cramped.

So much to think about in this video, Kim. I can't thank you enough for sharing it. Maybe... maybe... one day education will come to a better place... but I sure have a hard time believing it because I've tried so many times to be an agent of change... and I was always fought. And I hate to admit it but... I quit.

  2. Thanks Nevine. It was meaningful to me as well.

I'm glad to know more of your back story. You are kind to share it. :) btw, sometimes quiting is a victory - at least it can free us to be victorious.
